Introduction

Cooperation with Romania is largely focused on the economy theme and involves seminars and training programmes as well as Romania’s participation in the Annual Conferences of Window 8 of Partners for Roads programme. The counterpart is Romanian National Company for Motorways and National Roads.

The involvement of Romania within the Window 8 started in 2004 with its participation in the 1st Conference on Roads and Environment in Arnhem, the Netherlands. Soon after the Conference, a Cost-Benefit Analysis Training for the Romanian experts took place. Following that, in 2005, Romania was represented at the 2nd Conference on Roads and Environment in Pokrzywna, Poland. During 2006 two seminars were organised: The first seminar was offered in the Netherlands in the field of Cost Benefit Analysis for Romanian (and Bulgarian) experts. The second seminar which took place in Romania was on Funds and Financing issues and dealt with the Structural Funds and Cohesion Funds. Recently, a project on Structural Funds and Cohesion Funds which started in 2006 was finalised.
